Marriage Visa
Any foreigner who are legally married to a Thai citizen are eligible to get a long-term visa to stay in Thailand that can be renewed on a yearly basis, this particular visa is under the Non-Immigrant-O(Other) visa also known as “Thai Marriage Visa”.
In obtaining this visa the applicant must lodge application together with all the complete necessary documents in a Thai Embassy and normally may take from 2 to 5 working days depending on the processing consul office.

Basic Requirements
- The foreigner must have a Thai spouse that is substantiated through a certificate.
- One must cater to the financial requirement;

- 2. Per month income of at least THB 40,000 and a letter from the Embassy to verify the income
- Supporting documents to prove the security deposit;
- 1. Updated passbook
- 2. Bank letter mentioning that the money had been deposited from an overseas source
- Other documents, including police clearance and medical certificate
Documents Required
For those who wish to take up marriage visa in Thailand, they will require these documents;
- Your passport and your wife’s passport along with the copies
- Wife’s ID card
- Wife’s household registration
- Children’s birth certificates, if any
- Certificate of your legal marriage
- Thai Bank book showing funds of 400,000 Thai baht, or else a letter from the Embassy showing 40,000 Thai baht income per month
- Letter from your bank in Thailand confirming your funds
- 2 couple photos inside your home
- 2 photos outside your home showing the house number
- Proof of the residence, where you and your wife stays
- Drawn location map of the residence
Simple Steps Application Process
Step 1
Obtain a 90-day visa or a year’s non-immigrant O visa from your country prior to the application for the marriage visa in Thailand.
Step 2
After receiving your non-immigrant visa, travel to Thailand for its activation.
Step 3
Prepare the required documents for conversion of the non-immigrant O visa to the Thai marriage visa
Step 4
One can seek extension within the last thirty days of the ninety days permit.
Step 5
Submit the visa extension certificate to the Immigration Office along with all the important documents for the application. As for the processing period, it is likely to take a month.
