Holders of the Thailand Elite Card will be among the next group of foreigners to be allowed entry into the country, the government has announced.
According to CCSA spokesman, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, elite cardholders will be allowed to enter Thailand as part of the 6th phase of COVID-19 easing, full details of which are expected to be released imminently.
Elite Cardholders will still be required to undergo the mandatory quarantine period.
Meanwhile, changes to the security laws by the Chinese government in Hong Kong has led to growing interest in Hong Kongers seeking elsewhere to live.
Many are turning to Thailand for long term stays.
It has been reported that over the last nine months sales of the “Elite Card” (Thailand Privilege Card”) to Hong Kongers is up 380%.
While this only represents 50 people, more are expected in the third quarter.
There are a total of 10,363 members of the Elite Card program, with China, Japan, USA and UK accounting nationalities with the largest number of cardholders.
